People
Charlie Kirk
Victim. Shot once in the neck at Utah Valley University on 10 Sep 2025 while speaking at a Turning Point USA campus event. Pronounced dead the same day. Age 31.
David Hull
Utah State Bureau of Investigation agent (later described as former). Key prelim witness on campus surveillance: rooftop roll-over, prone position, drop with an object, wooded area.
Candace Owens
Commentator and former TPUSA communications director. Principal public voice arguing Robinson is a patsy and that federal evidence was concocted. Her claims are catalogued here as claims, not as the site's conclusions.
Jeffrey Gray
Utah County attorney. Charged Robinson 16 Sep 2025 and announced the death penalty.
Erika Kirk
Widow of Charlie Kirk. Later CEO of Turning Point USA. Crime victim in the Utah case. Has pushed for a speedy, public trial and has publicly rejected Owens' conspiracy framing.
Hunter Kozak
UVU student who was questioning Kirk about transgender mass shooters in the seconds before the shot. The timing fed motive conspiracies. Kozak later called it "the worst question" he could have asked.
Lance Twiggs
Robinson's roommate and romantic partner. State's main cooperating witness. Not charged as a co-conspirator. DNA reported on the towel wrapped around the recovered rifle.
Kash Patel
FBI director during the manhunt. Tweeted a suspect in custody on 10 Sep, then walked it back within about 90 minutes. Later faced bipartisan criticism over the investigation's first hours.
Judge Tony F. Graf Jr.
Fourth District judge, Provo. Presiding. Will decide probable cause / bindover after 1 Sep 2026 arguments. Has not ruled as of this file's seed date.
Kathryn Nester
Lead appointed defense counsel (Salt Lake City), appointed 24 Sep 2025. At prelim, focused on DNA, ATF fragment, and chain of custody – not on Owens' patsy theory.
Tyler James Robinson
Accused by the State of Utah of being the lone rooftop shooter. Surrendered 11 Sep 2025 in Washington County. Capital aggravated murder plus related counts. Has not been convicted. Bindover not yet ruled.
Amanda Bakker
FBI DNA analyst. Testified at the July 2026 prelim about connecting Robinson to the rifle and towel mixture after Twiggs' comparison sample arrived.
Jennifer Faumuina
Utah DPS / SBI sergeant. Towel DNA attributed to Twiggs plus 'very likely' Robinson. Also testified in scene collection.
Spencer Cox
Utah governor. Called Robinson the only suspect. Early comments on leftist ideology and radicalization after Utah State. Not a trial witness in the public prelim recap.
Amber Robinson
Mother of the accused. Investigators say she told them her son had leaned left, become more concerned with gay and trans rights, and was dating a person transitioning. Gray used that as charging narrative, not as a lab result.
Beau Mason
Utah DPS commissioner. 11 Sep briefing: good video of a college-age figure who blended in, climbed a roof shortly before noon, jumped, and fled into a neighborhood.
Brian Davis
Utah SBI agent. Author of the probable-cause statement. At the July 2026 prelim he introduced the redacted recorded Twiggs interview and described use immunity.
Caitlin Oliver
ATF DNA section chief. Prelim testimony: samples from the rifle were at least 1 trillion times more likely to include Robinson than not, the lab's ceiling statistic.
Chris Bagley
Former UVU officer. Heard the shot, found an empty pistol holster in the grass, and did not treat it as the murder weapon because he thought the report was a rifle. Six of 15 UVU officers were working the event.
George Zinn
71. Detained on campus after yelling he had shot Kirk. Later admitted the shout was to hinder police. Charged with obstruction. Separately charged, and later convicted, of sexual exploitation of a minor. Sheriff: no evidence he colluded with the shooter.
Jeffrey Neiman
Attorney for Erika Kirk / the Kirk family. During prelim asked the court to make exhibits public without redactions, arguing secrecy feeds conspiracy claims.
Matthew Robinson
Father of the accused. Recognized FBI stills, confronted his son, and with a retired-deputy family friend drove him to Washington County Sheriff's Office the evening of 11 Sep 2025.
Michael Burt
Defense co-counsel. At prelim, cross-examined DNA and ballistics witnesses on lab-policy wording and evidence quality.
Nate Brooksby
Washington County Sheriff who took the 11 Sep surrender after a retired deputy called him. Resigned 27 Mar 2026 over unrelated harassment / ethics complaints.
Robert Bohls
FBI Special Agent in Charge, Salt Lake City. 11 Sep 2025 briefing: rifle recovered in woods, footwear / palm / forearm impressions, more than 130 tips that morning.
Ryan McBride
Deputy Utah County Attorney. Conducted the recorded April 2026 Twiggs interview that was played at the preliminary hearing under an oath and use-immunity warning.
Samantha Karner
ATF firearm and toolmark examiner. Defense witness at prelim. Compared the autopsy jacket fragment to the recovered rifle and reported inconclusive.
